a tale of a beautiful country Ⅲ - utopia

When a day mingled with lint and sank in crimson,
the dream will return to the place of Dream,
the sorrow will return to the place of Sorrow
−Togetherness (Persian silk tree) / Taeko Takeda

I accidentally encountered this beautiful landscape after the Tohoku earthquake disaster in 2013. Since then, I have visited this place several times and pondered over the transforming scenery. I have also been thinking about the structure of the asymmetrical nature between TOKYO and FUKUSHIMA, not as a party involved in the disaster but as one who unknowingly had been consuming electricity from Fukushima. And I, as an artist, must stay conscious of the fact, to question their "wounds" and "pains" repeatedly, to think about the "impossibility" of being close to the grief of others.
In the first half of the exhibition, 16 works will be shown, including three video works, ten works from a new series of small summer flowers (Oregano Kent-Beauty) blooming on the balcony, and large prints taken at beautiful towns such as Okuma-machi and Futaba-machi. In the second round, 16 works from "A Tale of a Beautiful Country" series taken at Hamadori District, a coastal area in Fukushima, including the latest works in 2022-23, will be exhibited.
